Hammy Smillie M.B.E. (Chair)
Hammy Smillie was Business & Community Relations Director of ScottishPower before taking early retirement at the end of March 2004. He worked with ScottishPower and its predecessor, South of Scotland Electricity Board (SSEB) for almost 39 years. Hammy was born and brought up in Springburn, Glasgow.
In 1971, Hammy qualified as a Fellow of the Chartered Association of Certified Accountants. He was awarded the M.B.E. in the 2001 New Year's Honour's list for service to ScottishPower and the Community.
Since retiring from ScottishPower, he was appointed a Director of Energy Action Scotland and also a Director of Age Concern Scotland. He is also the Chairman and a Trustee of the ScottishPower Energy People Trust which has been set up to help people suffering from fuel poverty.
He is married with one son and stays in Hamilton. His hobbies are golf, being a member of Hamilton Golf Club with a handicap of 16, going to the gym and watching soccer.
